A second delivery of food in a week to Slough hospital staff and the creation of 400 hand stitched protection masks for the public - that is the proud achievement of the town's Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.

The 470 non-perishable food items were delivered to staff at Wexham Park Hospital yesterday as part of the second Slough Ahmadiyya Big Iftar Donation initiative.

It was delivered by the group's women's auxiliary who had also stitched the masks.

Nicola Monk, voluntary services deputy manager at Wexham Park, received the food.

Atiq Ahmad Bhatti, president of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Slough said: “It is humbling to be able to make a second donation within a week to the NHS at Wexham Park Hospital.

"The Ahmadiyya Muslim Women's Auxiliary work tirelessly throughout the year raising hundreds of pounds for charity, providing local community support initiatives and ensuring they give back to their local community at every possible opportunity. Currently, AMWA UK are working on a national initiative stitching thousands of face masks that will be used for those in need and in Slough they will have completed 800 by next week.

"With just over a week remaining until the end of Ramadan, the focus for all members of the community is to double and triple their service to humanity and their charitable works, supporting those who are elderly and vulnerable, especially during these unprecedented times."
