STARGAZERS were able to enjoy a picturesque scene in the sky last night (April 7), as a 'Pink Moon' illuminated the darkness in the midst of the coronavirus lockdown.

This month's full moon occurred from around 10.30pm after reaching the nearest point from Earth in its orbit.

This created a supermoon, which appeared larger than normal.

The pink supermoon name is a northern Native American reference to an early-blooming wildflower, which starts to pop up in the US and Canada at the beginning of spring.
