NON-LEAGUE Football involving clubs in Berkshire and Buckinghamshire has been suspended due to the threat of the coronavirus outbreak, writes Rob Stevens.

The Football Association collectively agreed with both the Premier League and the English Football League to suspend the professional game in England until Friday April 3 at the earliest in midweek.

Football at non-league level took a similar stance with the BetVictor Southern League announcing on Friday it has postponed all fixtures between March 14-21.

A statement from the League read: “A review of the situation will take place on Friday March 20 and clubs will be notified of the decision as soon as possible regarding the continuation or otherwise of the competition from Monday March 23.

“In respect to the end-of-season date – it currently remains as Saturday April 25 but there will be updates should there be any changes.”

The Hellenic League consulted with the FA and has confirmed there will be no more football until after Tuesday March 31.

A statement from Brian King the Chief Executive officer at the Hellenic League said: “It has been decided, with immediate effect, to suspend all matches up to and including scheduled matches on March 31.

“The situation will then be reviewed when the impact of the coronavirus is better understood. The League will update clubs as and when further information is made available by The FA and other authorities.

“We hope that all clubs will understand the reasons behind this decision and look forward to your usual support and co-operation.”
