Windsor businessman Chris French has been named as a finalist in VisitEngland’s Tourism Superstar competition 2020.

Chris, director at French Brothers, is a familiar sight on the river and at the helm of the popular Thames passenger cruise boat company.

Alongside his brothers Keith and Geoff, who built French Brothers from scratch with him, Chris takes a hands-on approach whether delivering catering, engaging with customers or making company decisions.

Lucy French, who works in French Brothers sales and marketing, said: “His work ethic is an inspiration to me, not only as his daughter, but as his employee. We are constantly telling him to slow down, but it seems we are wasting our energy.”

The Royal Borough’s visitor manager, Julia White, was delighted to support the VisitEngland’s Tourism Superstar nomination, saying: “Chris French is a real asset and advocate for Windsor. To make the shortlist of 10 finalists is a marvellous achievement which is given to those who set the bar high for the standard of service in England’s tourism industry. All of the tourism team and partners from Visit Windsor wish him every success on the night.”

Councillor Samantha Rayner, deputy leader of the council and lead member for Windsor, said: “I am absolutely delighted that Chris has been nominated and is in the top 10 for VisitEngland’s Tourism Superstar.

“Chris is always seen around Windsor and is passionate about the town, so much so that he is now chair of the VisitWindsor partnership where we aim to promote everything the town can offer to our visitors.

“I wish him every success and hope that he comes back with the trophy.”

The VisitEngland’s Tourism Superstar competition recognises individuals who go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure visitors to England have an unforgettable experience.

You can vote for Chris via The Mirror’s voting page until 21 April 2020. The winner will be announced on Saturday, April 25 during English Tourism Week.
