Former Strictly Come Dancing Judge Len Goodman swapped dance-floor for auction-floor as he helped a Windsor business raise nearly £7,000 for a top children's charity.

It was a doubly special occasion for Century Financial Planning, the chartered financial planning company in Arthur Road.

While celebrating its 20th year trading, the company also announced a partnership with Variety Golf children's charity, which provides Sunshine Coaches to enable disabled or disadvantaged children to enjoy exciting trips.

The company plans to raise £25,000 to buy a new Sunshine Coach for a Berkshire school to be decided.

Alan Bird, the founder of the fund raising campaign, kick-started it at the company's 20th anniversary gala dinner with an auction - ably assisted by the legendary Len Goodman and comic Ian Irving.

Guests bid for items that included an over night stay at London's Landmark Hotel, the chance to enter the Sir Bruce Forsyth Classic Golf Event and rare signed memorabilia from David Jason and the Only Fools & Horses cast. A healthy £7,000 was raised.

Mr Bird said: "It has been a fantastic evening. The atmosphere was electric and all the guests truly got behind our initiative to help provide a local Berkshire school with a much-needed transport solution. A huge thank you goes to Len and Ian for making the evening so memorable and all our loyal, generous clients who dug deep and gave what they could to our cause.”

To achieve it’s £25k target, Century Financial Planning will run a year long campaign titled ‘20 for 2020’ where the company will host and support 20 local fund-raising events.
