Windsor Lions have announced their fourth prostate cancer awareness event.

It will take place at Windsor Racecourse on Thursday, April 23 between 4pm and 8pm - targeting men over 40 who are invited to come for a simple blood test to measure their PSA level. A raised reading can be an early sign of prostate cancer or related problems.

At the last three events organised by the Lions - who are one of the town's top local community services groups - nearly 2,000 men were tested and almost 150 have needed follow up investigations for previously undetected symptoms.

Talking about the day, organiser Diane Purchase said: "This is a major event in our calendar and important for men’s health as there is no national screening programme for prostate cancer. We are doubly excited this year to have great financial support from Savills Estate Agents in Windsor and the Shanly Foundation coupled with the launch of a new online booking system. We ask everyone to book in advance and bring the booking form with them on the day. This will reduce waiting times and make the whole process more efficient. Results will also be given electronically and much more quickly."

The system is up and running and can be found on Windsor Lions Website – go to www.windsorlions.co.uk and click on ‘prostate check’ in the diary section on the home page.
