JOHN Crippen took a one-two in the Winter Novice Qualifier at the South View Competition and Training Centre.

The final Winter Novice Qualifier of the Autumn and Winter period took place at the South View Competition and Training Centre during the Winter Classic Show.

The popular Cheshire show centre saw a field of 68 riders come forward to take on the course set by Gillian Milner, and it was Crippen from Chesham who dominated.

Thirty-eight competitors made it through to the jump-off and eight managed to pull off a double clear.

The pressure was on as those wanting to gain one of the two qualifying tickets available for the Championship Final held at the Royal International Horse Show, Hickstead had to be clear and fast.

Crippen partnered Tamino HCT, a seven-year-old owned by Karen Knight, to the top spot.

They produced a precise and efficient round in 35.97 seconds, finishing with 1.37 seconds in hand over his other ride Julius, a six-year-old owned by Chloe Templeton.
