SWIFTS maintained their lead at the top of Premier Division table in the Maidenhead District Netball League on Monday.

The league leaders dominated in a 38-17 win over bottom side Phoenix Pinkz at Kidwells Park.

Swifts took an eight-goal advantage into half-time, and extended their lead in quarter three, limiting Pinkz to just four goals.

Business Moves found themselves drawn into a battle with B52’s who were still looking for their first win of the season.

Although Business Moves pushed out to a slender advantage, B52’s kept in touch for the first three quarters of the game. A spark ignited in the final quarter and B52’s mounted their comeback, but the final whistle beat them in a 32-30 defeat.

They do however pick up an additional bonus losing point for coming within two goals.

Phoenix were looking to bounce back after their humbling defeat last week. However, another slow start gave them a mountain to climb to get back into the game.

Angels stormed to a 10-3 lead in the first quarter, an advantage which was then maintained for the rest of the match for a 30-17 success.

GX Jaguars and Mavericks played out another close encounter. GX Jaguars will be disappointed with the result having lead the match all the way up to the third quarter.

Mavericks turned up the heat in quarter four and some brilliant defensive work and turnovers meant they were able to overturn the deficit. By restricting Jaguars to just two goals in the final quarter, Mavericks took the win 26-24.

Woodley Comets were unable to field a team and therefore had to forfeit their match against Windsor.

There was another full house of matches in Division One this week which started with Redbacks and Zentax.

Zentax started strong leading 9-7 at the end of the first quarter and they managed to retain a slight advantage to lead 14-13 at the half-time whistle.

Rejuvenated after the break, Redbacks great team work from all seven players saw them take the lead going into the final quarter. Redbacks kept the momentum in the final quarter to eventually win the game 32-22.

Nettlebed Stingers remain five points behind in second place but still with a game in hand after their match against Sevens.

It was not plain sailing for the undefeated Stingers as Sevens were quick out the blocks taking an early advantage at the end of the first quarter.

At the half time whistle, the game was tied 12-12 but with only six goals scored in total by both teams in the third quarter, it was all to play for in the final 12 minutes.

Both teams started well in the final quarter but Nettlebed Stingers were just too strong and went on to beat Seven 27-19.

Scotch move up to third place after their dominating 44-20 victory over Apple Travel Green, whilst Eclipse jump to fourth (equal on points) after they claimed five points for beating bottom of the table Black Magic 37-47.

The final game of the night was between Wokingham and Sparks which saw Wokingham take an early lead and steadily increasing their goal difference throughout the game to claim a 38-15 victory.
