CALA Homes launches its £2,000 community bursary in Maidenhead on Monday -  and is inviting local charities, schools, community groups and good causes in the area to apply for a share of the funding.

The company's national bursary is now in its fourth year - and it is the second year Maidenhead has had its own local version.

Since itsan initial launch £300,000 has been given away to a wide variety of organisations including environmental charities, cancer support groups, food banks and sports clubs across the country. This year the housebuilder will make a further £100,000 available across the UK.

Stuart Wallace, Managing Director at CALA Homes Chiltern, said: “CALA is committed to making a positive and lasting contribution to communities and we’re delighted to relaunch our bursary initiative in Maidenhead for the second time.

“We look forward to hearing from even more local charities and good causes, and discovering not only the vital difference they make to the community, but also how we can support, sustain and amplify the great work that is being done in the area.”

CALA’s Community Bursary is open to charities and community groups of all sizes. Those interested can apply for a share of the fund by completing an application form on the CALA website (cala.co.uk/bursary). Applications close Friday, March 6.

Previously, three charities and organisations in Maidenhead have benefitted with donations made to DASH Charity, Daisy’s Dream and Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service.

Caron Kipping, community engagement manager at the DASH Charity – a domestic abuse charity and beneficiary of the CALA Community Bursary in 2019 – said: “We’re delighted to have received such a generous donation from CALA Homes, which will go towards funding to continuation of our helpline – the very first port of call for those reaching out to us for help. Callers to our helpline may be in crisis or have a very small window of opportunity to escape to a place of safety, so it’s an extremely important part of what we do.”
