THE Maidenhead District Netball League saw all five matches in the Premier Division go ahead on Monday and for the first time in six weeks due to recent wet or freezing weather.
The first was a top-of-the-table clash as leaders Swifts took on second-placed Phoenix for the first time this season. Swifts stormed into a six-goal lead and a strong defensive unit limited the Phoenix shooters to just two goals in the first quarter.
Swifts kept up the intensity throughout the game and sealed a 35-16 win to secure their position at the top of the table – now nine points ahead of the chasing pack.
Both Phoenix Pinkz and B52s are still looking for a first win of the season and unfortunately neither would have much luck in midweek at Kidwells Park either.
B52s faced Windsor who were in a high-scoring mood with some great shooting to take the victory 51-27. Windsor are now in third position in the table and 10 points behind Swifts but having played one game fewer whilst B52s prop up the division.
Phoenix Pinkz took on a young Woodley Comets side which took advantage of a poor second quarter and then stretched their lead by 10 goals. Phoenix were unable to reach them and fell to a 29-20 defeat.
Woodley remain in eighth place in the table and one spot above Phoenix Pinkz.
Angels faced a final quarter collapse against the young side from GX Jaguars. The Jaguars defence put on the pressure and turned over balls into the attacking circle. Some calm and accurate shooting from Freya Sherlock meant they were able to convert the turnovers to take the win 34-23.

GX Jaguars now stand in fifth position in the table and six points ahead of Angels in seventh place.
The closest game of the evening was between Business Moves and Mavericks. A greatly contested match saw an even first quarter with both teams struggling to any rhythm.
However, some great shooting from Brenda Lacey in the second quarter meant Mavericks were able to capitalise on errors from the opposition and go into half-time six goals to the good.
Business Moves then rallied and some positional changes down the defensive end paid dividends as they were able to claw back the difference.
A last-minute ball into the circle was the last piece of action in the match and meant Business Moves took the win by a single goal – 28-27.
Business Moves had climbed into second position in the table and nine points behind Swifts but with a game in hand. Mavericks stand in sixth place.
