AN ELDERLY man has been left with a broken hip after a woman kicked away his walking stick and stole his money.

Thames Valley Police said the victim was withdrawing some money from a cashpoint on Whitley Street, Reading, when the woman attacked him.

It happened about 5.45pm on January 9.

The force said two men, seeing the incident, ran after the fleeing attacker and managed to get the victim's money back - however she managed to escape before they could stop her again.

The victim required hospital treatment after the attack , and suffered from a broken hip.

Investigating officer, PC Becky Oliver, based at Reading police station, said: “I am appealing to anyone who has information that could assist with this investigation to get in touch.

“I am particularly interested in speaking with the two young men who stopped the woman and retrieved the victim's money.
