TV presenter, adventure and naturalist Steve Backshall and his double gold-winning Olympic medallist wife Helen Glover, have announced the arrival of twins.

The coupled revealed the news via Twitter on January 16, where they have become parents to both a boy and a girl.

They are now parents to three children.

Speaking on Twitter, Steve said: “Being a twin is like being born with a soulmate.

“A best friend always on hand to play, fight, argue and make up stories with.

“And Helen should know, being a twin herself.

“All I know is that life is about to get double the crazy and we couldn’t be happier.”

Helen then added on Twitter: “Steve and I are overwhelmed by your lovely messages - thank you so much.

“Thank you also to the incredible NHS staff for taking such good care of us and our babies.

“Through every step of the process we were blown away by everyone and truly grateful.”

Speaking exclusively to the Bucks Free Press, Steve said: “We’re looking forward to the twins growing up (with big brother Logan) in this special part of the country.

“No idea if they’ll end up being rowers or kayakers... hopefully both!”

The birth of the twins comes a year-and-a-half after the couple’s first child, Logan, was born in July 2018.

Logan was originally a twin, but in April 2018, the couple revealed the heart-breaking news that one of the twins had died before being born.

Steve and Helen currently reside in Marlow.
