Five locally based good causes have received a welcome Christmas present this month - thanks to Windsor Lions and their own much gentler version of television's Dragon's Den.
The Lions have been out and about on the streets of Windsor in their Santa Sleigh, collecting for local projects.
As Christmas approached local groups were invited to face the 'Lions' Den' at Windsor Methodist Church and give a Dragon's Den style presentation to members putting their case for some funding.
The five chosen to be awarded with funds were The Baby Bank, the Swan pub at Mill Street which was saved from permanent closure by local residents, 4Motion Dance Theatre Company, the British Disabled Water Ski Association and Windsor Baptist Church Community Kitchen.
A first for Windsor Lions was their children’s Christmas party held on December 14 at Hanover Way Community Centre. The youngsters enjoyed dancing, games such as Pass the Parcel and Statues, a goody bag to take away and – of course – a visit from Santa.
Speaking of their hectic schedule, Lion President Judy Hill said: "It’s definitely been a very busy time lately but we all enjoyed bringing a bit of Christmas cheer to the people of Windsor and hope they enjoyed it as much as we did."
