Special Voices, the voluntary parent/carer forum for Slough held its annual information day on Thursday.

It was Carers Rights Day - which made it the perfect day for the forum to welcome people to the Singh Sabha Sports Centre in Stoke Poges Lane, where 30 stands manned by local services and organisations offered help and advice.

The main aim of Special Voices is to raise awareness about the rights and needs of children/young people with additional needs and to ensure that they and their families are consulted and involved in any decisions made while planning or developing services for them. Special Voices has a main steering group of voluntary parents/carers who have taken on the role of gathering parents' and carers' collective views and presenting them to service planners and decision makers in order to ensure that services are needs-led.

Special Voices of course had its own stand at last week's information day.

Among the visitors was the mayor of Slough Cllr Avtar Kaur Cheema.
