Christmas is coming as Windsor, Slough and surrounding villages prepare for their big lights switch on events.

Eton is leading the way next Thursday with a chapel service at Eton College at 6pm, followed by a Christmas procession through the town led by Father Christmas and his reindeer, elves and children from Eton Porny School. The lights switch on will be in Jubilee Square at 7pm.

Windsor's Christmas lights go on two days later on Saturday, November 16.

The afternoon will have a festival feel beginning with a children's lantern procession through the town, leading to the switching on of the lights in front of Windsor Castle at 5.30pm by cast members from the Theatre Royal panto Aladdin

Windsor Castle's Garter Tower will be illuminated with historical images at the same time, with the illuminations remaining until January 6.

Slough Borough Council's Christmas lights switch on is on Saturday, November 23 in Slough town square.

There will be free entertainment from 1pm with lights countdown at 5pm and a mini fireworks display.

One lucky resident will be picked at random to push the button and will also receive a goody bag.

There will be lots of music from Dhol drummers and a choir as well as dancers on and off the stage and a community performance organised by HOME Slough.

Free activities will include land train rides up an down the High Street at the same time.
