SECOND-PLACED Slough Jets beat Raiders Junior 7-5 in a thrilling National One South battle on Saturday night.

The hosts made a dreadful start as Raiders took the lead after just 35 seconds when Vilius Krakauskas netted having been set-up by Tommy Huggett and Sam Roberts.

Jets levelled on 9:01 when Lewis English and Timo Lindgren combined to set-up Matt Jordan, and they went in front within two minutes when Sam Talbot hit the back of the net.

Slough ensured they ended the first stanza 3-1 in front when Harry Hatfield struck, the assists coming from Talbot and English.

Raiders stuck back early in the second period when Jan Marcilis fired home, but Talbot restored his side's two-goal advantage in the 24th minute when he collected a pass from Stewart Tait.

Raiders hit back, however, with Marcilis completing a brilliant hat-trick in the space of less than 10 minutes, his second coming thanks to an assist from Donald Campbell and his third on 31:27 when set-up by Huggett and George Gell.

With the sides level at 4-4 going into the final period, it was Raiders who hit the front with a little more than 10 minutes remaining, taking advantage of a powerplay when Haggett fired home after receiving the puck from Krakauskas.

Yet Slough came back immediately, levelling on 51:08, English the goalscorer after good work from Jordan and Robert Horsfall.

Within a minute the home side were in front, Juha Lindgren hitting the target with Ryan Handisides and Tom Fisher playing a key role in his goal.

The hosts put the game to bed on 54:19, Talbot completing a fine hat-trick as Timo Lindgren provided the assist.

Slough Jets do not have a game this week, returning to action at Raiders on Sunday, November 10.
