The Ahmadiyya Slough Muslim community group has teamed up with the Royal British Legion to support this year's poppy appeal in the town - which has adopted the slogan Remember Together as its theme.

East Berkshire fundraiser Gaynor Dingley said: "We are working closely with Ahmadiyya Slough who are very kindly fundraising for us at all of the supermarkets again this year."

But she warned: "We continue to struggle with volunteers and would like to appeal for more."

This year's poppy appeal was launched by Slough's mayor Cllr Avtar Kaur Cheema at Slough's Queensmere Observatory shopping centre on Saturday. MP Tan Dhesi also attended, along with Ahmadiyya Slough, Slough Police Cadets and representatives from the Royal British Legion's Cippenham branch.

The event was serious but there was plenty to entertain people who came along to support it. The Slough Dhol Drummers, singer Dan Pryde and the Cippenham Polish dance group all performed,
