Extended 'stop and search' powers across Slough - reintroduced last Tuesday after a four day break - will have been in force for a second week by 12.30pm tomorrow.
The extra powers known as Section 60, enabling police to search people without the usual 'reasonable suspicion' presumption, have to be renewed every 24 hours. They were introduced on Friday, September 27 following a fatal knife attack in Slough and were renewed daily for a week.
After four days a Section 60 order was reintroduced on Tuesday last week and has been renewed daily ever since, making it a second full week by tomorrow.
Concern has grown about youthful knife carrying in Slough and Langley after a 15-year-old was charged with the murder of Elton Gashaj and a 17-year-old was charged with grievous bodily harm after an attack in Langley.
