Reading used as filming locations: Did you know about these?

Turns out a lot of films and TV shows have used the town as a filming location, and some of them may just surprise you...

The King's Speech

One of the locations used to film the Buckingham Palace scenes in the 2010 hit film The King's Speech included Englefield House in Theale.

The Elizabethan country house is listed Grade II on the National Heritage List for England.

The gardens are open to the public all year round on particular weekdays and the house by appointment only for large groups.

Sticking with the theme of royalty, popular series The Crown also filmed some scenes at Englefield House.

X-Men: First Class (2011) also used Englefield House as a filming location, as well as many more films.

Parts of the 1990 film 3 Men and a Little Lady were filmed at Douai Abbey School in Reading.

The school closed in 1999 and has been sold for redevelopment as flats.

2001 drama The Hole, starring Keira Knightley, also used Reading as a filming location.

Reading Blue Coat School in Sonning was used for many of the scenes.

2014 romance film Love Me Till Monday also used several locations in Reading to film.

Lots of the popular 70s film Bugsy Malone was filmed in the town.

The bar scenes were filmed in biscuit factory Huntley and Palmers.

Surprisingly, none of the scenes of Ricky Gervais film Cemetery Junction were actually filmed in the town, despite the title's nod towards the well-known Reading area.

Gervais explained that the title of the film was taken from the Reading Cemetery Junction, but added the film wasn't really "set" in the town.
