A care home in Windsor has been barking up the right tree – as four legged visitors proved a great hit with residents.

Care UK's Mountbatten Grange in Helston Lane, Windsor received the visit from two friendly chihuahuas Aria and Uno.

They were taken on a tour of the home and spent time with residents, encouraging everyone to share memories of their own pets from the past.

Debbie Winwood, home manager at Mountbatten Grange, said: “It was wonderful to see the smiles on everyone’s faces when Aria and Uno arrived at Mountbatten Grange. Their visit created a lot of excitement among the residents and Care UK team.

“Petting animals and being in their company has proven therapeutic benefits, particularly for those living with dementia, as it can reduce anxiety, release calming endorphins, and decrease feelings of loneliness. You could see from the residents’ reactions just how engaged they were when given the opportunity to get so close to such lovely, affectionate dogs.”
