A leading village drama group is inviting young people aged 10 to 18 to try their luck as it holds auditions on Monday for a big musical production.

The Academy @ CAST is the junior section of Colnbrook Amateur Stage Theatre and has been building a reputation in its own right.

Their next production will be Back to the 80s which takes its cast back to the days of the Rubik’s cube, Max Headroom and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Back to the 80’s tells the story of the senior class of William Ocean High School, as remembered through the eyes of now thirty-something Corey Palmer. Seventeen-yearold Corey is madly in love with his next-door neighbour Tiffany Houston, one of the coolest girls in the school, but she is too busy mooning over Michael Feldman, the hottest guy around.

However, while Corey and his friends may not be the coolest guys in school, they are still one up on Feargal McFerrin, III, whose best friend is his computer and who believes the crazy notion that one day, CDs will replace cassette tapes.

There is a Star Wars dream sequence, high-energy dance routines, as well as some of the most popular songs ever written.

Auditions to be in the show are being held at Colnbrook Village Hall in Vicarage Way on Monday between 6.30pm and 8.30pm. The show will be performed between March 19 to 21.
