POLICE are investigating a cyber attack at Swindon College after staff reported the data breach on Thursday.

Hundreds of former and current students, staff and apprentices who were at the college during the last eight years could be at risk after hackers gained unauthorised access to the network.

"The incident was reported to us on September 12 and our enquiries are currently ongoing. It would be inappropriate for us to comment further at this time."

The National Crime Agency is also working with the college to investigate the crime which has been described as a deliberate and criminal act.
