Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in Old Windsor has recently been named as the charity of the year by staff at Marks & Spencer's Windsor branch.

To celebrate, dogs from the charity visited the store on Thursday.

The team at Marks & Spencer voted overwhelmingly to support the rescue centre at Priest Hill as the charity of the year for 2019/20.

Sue Hamilton, commercial operations section manager said: “We are delighted to be supporting this local dog and cat rescue centre that does so much to help vulnerable animals and our staff are looking forward to raising much needed funds to support their work – we are planning lots of activities which we hope our customers will enjoy too and aim to raise £5,000 by the end of the year.”

The Battersea Old Windsor centre has been open since 1979 and operated in exactly the same way as the flagship London centre, but on a slightly smaller scale.

Janet Brewer, Regional Community Fundraiser for Battersea said: “We’re delighted to be named as Marks & Spencer Windsor’s Store Charity of the Year. Every year, our Old Windsor centre helps thousands of dogs and cats from across Berkshire and beyond; with the funds that we receive from this partnership we can continue the vital work that we do for all of the animals in our care.”
