A couple managed to save themselves by clambering onto a nearby narrow boat after their car crashed into the river last night.
The accident happened at 10pm at Boulters Lock, Maidenhead.
It involved the Vauxhall Corsair car and a van.
A water rescue team from the Fire Rescue Service hurried to the scene using an inflatable boat to help the two people who had climbed out of the car.
They were taken to hospital - the man was suffering from hypothermia and the woman from a leg injury.
