A tasty fish supper proved the ideal way for friends of Thames Valley Adventure Playground to celebrate a generous £3,000 donation.

They shared it with representatives from Windsor Lions, a leading local community service club which had just donated the money to the Taplow based playground in Bath Road which caters for children and adults with special needs.

Past President of the Lions Bob Tavinor had organised the evening to commemorate a founding member of the club John Peters who died last year. Mr Peter's widow Rosie and Lions president Judy Hill were among those present.

The late Mr Peters and his wife had been heavily involved with the Adventure Playground since its foundation 40 years ago.

The money will be used to refurbish and extend the playground's sand pit - work that will be carried out by volunteers from local businesses.

Mr Tavinor said: "Windsor Lions and TVAP go back a long way and it’s a fantastic way to mark John’s passing with this ongoing legacy for the playground."

The playground attracts users from Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, London and beyond.

It boasts wheelchair-accessible roundabouts and swings, elevated walkways allowing someone with profound and multiple difficulties to enjoy the excitement of 'climbing' trees, multi-sensory rooms to stimulate and relax, with specially-trained staff to provide help and support.
