SLOUGH Town have confirmed the signing of Daniel Roberts on a one-year contract after his impressive form during pre-season, writes Rob Stevens.

Roberts

, 21, joined

the Rebels

on a dual-registration basis from Windsor in February 2019 after he had scored numerous goals in the Hellenic League and helped the Stag Meadow club reach the last 16 in the FA Vase.

The striker had also impressed in a showpiece game at Arbour Park back in May 2018 and the Slough management team had kept tabs on him since.

He remained a Windsor player until the end of last season but did make seven appearances for the Rebels in the National League South.

Roberts has electric pace and an eye for goal, scoring in the defeat to Eastleigh and bagging a brace in the win against Hartley Wintney on Saturday.

He could have been dual-signed with a club at step three this season but has impressed in the summer and earned his place in the Slough squad.

The goals scorer still has a lot to learn but, if he shows the same desire and determination, he will keep on improving.

The Rebels joint-manager Jon Underwood told the Observer: "Robbo is a Slough Town player now, 100 per-cent, and totally in our plans. We think he has got a great future.

"Dan would be the first name on the teamsheet if we picked the side for this Saturday on pre-season performances. He has been our best player in the summer. He has been bright, scored goals and looked lively.

"Dan is suspended for the first three games, which is a real blow, but he is looking very good.

"Those games will pass quickly and, when we play Weymouth at Arbour Park in the second week of the season, he'll be available and we look forward to getting him back with us."

Roberts tweeted: "I'm buzzing to have finally signed for the club. It's a great club going forward in the right direction and I can't wait to be a part of it."

Slough have also re-signed midfielder Scott Davies, who left the club back in January but did return to help the Rebels win the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup final in May.
