THE family of a soldier based at RAF Brize Norton who died in a crash on the A420 have paid tribute to the 'loving father'.

Ross Standing, aged 27, died in a collision between his car and a HGV on the road between Faringdon and Littleworth at around 6am on Saturday.

His family said: “Private Ross Thomas Standing was based at RAF Brize Norton whilst working for the Army.

“He was a loving father and leaves behind his wife and three children.

“We would like to request that our privacy is respected at this difficult time.”

Police have previously appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Investigating officer PC Mark Dunne, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, based at Three Mile Cross, said: “We are appealing for witnesses to this tragic incident. Our thoughts are with the family at this sad and difficult time.

“I would also ask motorists who were in the area around the time of the collision to check their dash-cam footage in case it may have captured anything that could assist us with the investigation."
