SLOUGH Town joint-manager Jon Underwood expects pre-season results to improve in upcoming friendly matches against lower-league opponents, writes Rob Stevens.

The Rebels have had a difficult start to the summer

with home defeats against National League sides Eastleigh and Sutton United, plus a

loss at Arbour Park to Bournemouth Under 23s

.

Their preparations for the new campaign continue with a trip to Hayes & Yeading United this Saturday (12.30pm), before Hartley Wintney visit Arbour Park on July 27th and a short trip to Beaconsfield Town on July 29th.

Underwood told the Observer: "It will be a different test on Saturday. It will be a decent game on a decent pitch and it probably might feel a bit more like a normal league match.

"I don't know too much about what Hayes & Yeading have done recruitment-wise since getting promoted to step three but I expect a more typical non-league side compared to what we faced against Bournemouth, which was a different kind of test.

"We've started pre-season with three tough games against higher-league opposition and we now play three sides that are a level below. That doesn't mean we're going to turn up and wipe the floor with them but I expect to see some improvement in the results.

"We need to start keeping some clean sheets and score a few more goals. Hopefully that will come on Saturday, but if not the next game."
