MAKING a trailer for a horror film has won an 18-year-old pupil at Churchmead School a top award.

Simran Shergill is a Year 13 media A level student at the school in Priory Way, Datchet. She was shortlisted for the Media Magazine/British Film Institute Production Awards 2019 - a competition open to sixth form students across the UK.

The shortlist alone involved 28 different schools.

Simran, her family, teachers and friends were invited to a special awards ceremony at the British Film Institute on London’s Southbank earlier this month, where she won the award for best editor

Her submission was a trailer for a horror film called ‘Never Forget Me’ for which Simran also created a marketing campaign.

The judge, Tammy Riley-Smith of the National Film and Television School, announced her as winner - saying: "The way the pictures are cut together tell the story brilliantly and elicit terrific suspense and fear. A masterclass in genre and narrative storytelling.”

Simran was presented with a special trophy and a certificate.
