Fitness coach Salvatore Bruno will not be going anywhere over the weekend of August 9 to 11 - despite undertaking a 48 hour cycling marathon.

Salvatore, 42, will 'set off' on his static bike at the Five Star Gym in Vale Road, Windsor at noon on the first day and will pedal frantically without sleep for two days without moving forward an inch.

It will make quite a change from his last big fund raising bike ride last year, when he cycled from Edinburgh Castle to Windsor Castle in 39 hours raising £2,355 for the British Heart Foundation.

It is just the latest of a series of varied challenges he has set himself to support the charity after his father Carlo died suddenly of a heart attack in 2015.

Carlo was a much loved figure in Windsor and his death came out of the blue.

Salvatore, who lives in Straight Road, Old Windsor said: "We are a large family and the impact on us was enormous."

His decision to raise money for the leading heart charity has seen him undertake some amazing challanges, including pulling a truck containing 13 people and a car for 25 metres.

What is his secret.

He said: "It is simply a matter of training. I trained for four to five months to get my body into a state that could do that.

"I'm not a cyclist either so I have had to train for that as well. I started the challenges to show that if you really put your mind to it you can achieve anything."

Former Windsor Boys School pupil Salvatore is a father of two and is supported in challenges by his partner Karolina Jurkiewicz, who accompanied him in a support vehicle during his Edinburgh to Windsor cycle ride.

But he does not plan to be alone during his static ride in the gym either. There will be two bikes on either side of him and supporters will be invited to join for as long as they like, as long as they contribute to the fund raising.

He said: "I hope to involve the whole community."
