The production is being sponsored by local businessman Andrew Try whose family owns the site at St Leonard’s Hill. Mr Try’s company, ComXo, is based in Datchet.
The story of the play takes place at the royal court and in the Forest of Arden. A duke has been overthrown and he is living in exile in the Forest ‘like the old Robin Hood of England’. Other courtiers escape to the greenwood where comedy and entanglements of love abound against a backdrop of traditional song and spectacle.
This is a rare opportunity to see an open air, Elizabethan style Shakespeare play in spectacular historic surroundings with some of the most stunning views of Windsor castle performed by a professional cast of actors from London and Berkshire.
You can see it June 26, 27, 28 and 29. Gate opens 5.30pm (picnics can be taken in the grounds ahead of the performance). Performances start 7pm.
