Calling all green fingered enthusiasts - Slough Horticultural Show returns to Lascelles Park this summer following its triumphant launch last year.

The show will run at Lascelles Park on Saturday, August 17 from 11am to 5pm.

Slough Allotment Federation and the borough council are encouraging keen gardeners and allotment holders to get growing in time for this year’s event.

There will be competitions for the best home grown produce including vegetables and flowers and best home made items, including cakes, knitted items and clothing with special classes for children.

There is also a photography competition for keen snappers.

All produce classes will be judged by professional horticultural judges with 'best in show' awards at 4.30pm and an opportunity to buy some of the produce.

Entering is easy, just go to www.slough.gov.uk/sloughshow and download the schedules, pick the class(es) you would like to enter and fill out the application form. Or, you can pick up a schedule and application form from your local allotment trading hut.

In addition to the competition classes, there will be lots of entertainment on offer, including Basil and crew – super cute farmyard animals, funfair rides, an inflatable maze, bouncy castle, face painting, a balloon modeler, entertainment in the main arena, food and drink stalls, plus the Slough in Bloom tent exhibiting floral displays

The show also needs volunteers to help on the day. If you are interested in volunteering, contact ian.judd@slough.gov.uk Show sponsors this year include SEGRO and Grundon.

Haley Baldwin from Slough Allotment Federation, said: “This year’s show promises to be a great family day out. We are hoping to see many entries into the Horticultural Show, and want to encourage people to enter the Upcycling section of the show where Mr Grundon will be presenting the award for the best recycled item.

"The day promises to be lots of fun with entertainment and also a look back into the history of our local trading estate with SEGRO ready for their 100th anniversary year coming up. It’s free entry to the show with competition entry free for children and adult entries only 50p, so why not come along and enjoy the day with us?”
