The May local government elections in the Royal Borough will soon be here - and West Windsor Residents Association has announced its candidates.

The association's one existing councillor Wisdom Da Costa will be seeking reelection, to represent the newly created Clewer and Dedworth West ward.

Standing alongside him and hoping for a place on the new ward will be Jon Davey, who alongside his role as vice-president of the Windsor and Eton Rotary Club also runs the popular I Love Windsor website.

Across the boundary standing for another new ward Clewer and Dedworth East will be longstanding resident and community midwife Carole Da Costa - who is Wisdom Da Costa's wife

West Windsor Residents Association chairman Richard Endacott said: “We believe this is a strong list of candidates capable of giving Clewer and Dedworth its voice back from the council after the disastrous Conservative backed Borough Local Plan led to the closure and sale of our garden centres and continues to threaten the future of our local green belt and wider community. We look forward to a more positive future based on an integrated transport plan and community facilities which can bring a vibrancy and much needed investment back by promoting the interests and well-being of West Windsor Residents."

This will be a significant election as it is the first to be held after the wards in the Royal Borough were rearranged to reduce the number of councillors from 57 to 41.

Royal Borough residents are reminded that the deadline for the receipt of postal ballots this year is Monday, April 15.
