The Slough Happiness Collective helped inspire people last week on the International Day of Happiness by hosting a Feel Good Festival at HOME on the High Street in Slough town centre.

The group aims at promoting positivity by bringing together people from across the local community. At the event, attendees were given the chance to socialise, try new activities, learn new skills and share self-improvement methods.

Amongst the activities on offer was a chance to experience a VR headset, an opportunity to try playing the Theremin, producing origami and other activities aimed at broadening horizons.

Linda Tabor-Thomas, from the Slough Happiness Collective, said: “The purpose of the International Day of Happiness is to recognise there is a human desire for happiness. You can impact your own happiness and you can learn ways to improve your own happiness.

“Always smile at others. It doesn’t take a lot, but when you smile not only do you give yourself a little high, but you never know what the other person is going through. You never know how far a smile can go.”

Ramesh Kukar, CEO of Slough council for Voluntary Services, encouraged those in attendance to “spread happiness by pledging to undertake one small act of kindness every day, for example give an honest compliment or pass on a smile, it costs nothing, but it can brighten someone's day and improve your own well-being.”
