Runners from Slough’s GoodGym are teaming up with the wildlife charity WWF to support the Earth Hour.

On Saturday, members of the GoodGym will be supporting a national week of activities by potting plants in the town aiming to make Slough a better place to be by improving green spaces in the town.

The Earth Hour will be held this Saturday from 8.30 – 9.30pm and encourages people to switch off their lights in a show of support for the environment. It was estimated that last year over 10 million people took part in the event.

Ivo Gormley, GoodGym Founder said: “GoodGym runners across the country run through the streets, parks, tow-paths and green spaces; we gain a huge amount from being in our cities green spaces. This is a great way to celebrate and improve the spaces we love to run through, and to make an overall contribution to protecting and growing our cities' trees and parks.

Gareth Redmond King, Head of Climate and Energy at WWF UK, said: “We are the first generation to know we are destroying the world. And we could be the last that can do anything about it. It’s great to see so many people around the country, including the GoodGym runners in Slough coming together to show their support for Earth Hour.”
