The team at Windsor's Riverside Day Nursery is celebrating after being found 'outstanding' by Government inspectors.

The day nursery, which is based at Windsor Leisure Centre in Stovell Road, received the outstanding rating following an independent Ofsted inspection on February 27.

Ofsted is the commonly used name for the the Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills - a non-ministerial department of the UK government responsible for inspecting schools and nurseries.

Its report on life at Riverside said: "Children behave exceptionally well and are kind to one another. They form very strong bonds with staff, who nurture and support them to develop a sense of belonging."

The quality of the teaching was described as 'highly impressive' with inspectors finding that the team 'embraced every opportunity to challenge children's thinking and teach them new skills.’

Emma Summersgill, founder of the day nursery, said: “We couldn’t be more thrilled.

"I’m very proud of our nursery manager Nikita and the team for all the hard work they put in to making our nursery the happy learning hub that it is.

“We’re committed to providing a nurturing home-from-home environment where the children can explore the world and gain confidence. It was wonderful to have the Ofsted Inspector endorse this, especially remarking on the strength of teaching and how well the children are prepared for school. It shows the children really are getting the best start.”
