A new container library on wheels has hit the road in the Royal Borough fully stocked with a wide range of books.

The library on wheels replaces an older container and will stop at the same sites: Woodlands Park and Shifford Crescent in Maidenhead, Wraysbury, Holyport and Sunningdale.

Councillor Samantha Rayner, cabinet member for culture and communities, said: “The new container library is full of hundreds of great books and resources and its mobility means that it can be enjoyed all over the borough and we can bring council services directly to our residents in their communities.”

She joined the Royal Borough's mayor Cllr Paul Lion and other members of the library team for a launch.

There are books, eBooks, eAudio books, large print books and eMagazines. Residents with a library card can borrow up to 30 items at a time, using the quick and easy self-service kiosk.

The kiosk will also allow residents to make payments for council services such as Council Tax and green bin subscription.

Staff are also on hand to provide assistance and direct residents to services.

Books can be loaned for three weeks and can be renewed up to four times.

Children’s audiobooks are also free to anyone under 18 years old, as are all other audiobooks to people with visual impairment.
