A bright idea lit up Windsor's Visitor Information Centre on Wednesday.

The new electronic messaging board was the winning idea suggested by Eleanor Smith in the Royal Borough's Bright Ideas competition organised by Windsor St George Rotary.

On Wednesday Eleanor's idea became a reality when she joined the Royal Borough's cabinet member for culture and communities cllr Samantha Rayner and the competition's project manager Chris Davies to unveil the board.

She said: "I recognised Windsor’s need for such a notice board and I’m over the moon that my idea was chosen as the competition winner.

“It is so great to be able to say that I have contributed to the community and I think the e-Board will be of great benefit to residents.”

Cllr Rayner said: “Windsor is a vibrant town with lots of events and activities so this will be a great place to help all the amazing community groups share their event dates and details.”

The board fits perfectly into a space at the Royal Windsor Information Centre, allowing it to be connected with existing screen management software.

Chris Davies, project manager for the competition on behalf of Windsor St George Rotary Club, said: “We are so happy to be a part of the Bright Ideas competition and we absolutely loved Eleanor’s entry, so it’s great to see it now become a reality.”
