A fiendish new play will be terrifying audiences at Windsor's Theatre Royal this week.
The Devil’s Bride has been written by Richard Layton who successfully adapted Edgar Allen Poe’s The Horrific Case of Mr Valdemar in 2009 for the Rumpus theatre group.
The new play is based on the chilling story by classic Victorian Gothic horror author Sheridan Le Fanu.
It follows the fortunes of aspiring 17th Century painter Godfried Schalken when he seeks an apprenticeship with famous artist Gerard Douw and falls in love with Douw's niece Rose.
But Douw achieved his fame by making a pact with the devil and when Gerard attempts to wed Rose, his evil rival returns to claim his wicked prize.
Firmly set in its Gothic horror period with a cast of three The Devil’s Bride is the perfect gothic horror treat.
It is playing on Wednesday and Thursday, March 20 to 21.
The box office number is 01753 853888.
