The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Council have announced that the future of the Nicholsons Shopping Centre in Maidenhead has been secured after the site was acquired by asset management and investment group Tikehau Capital.

The Council plan to organise a community planning weekend, giving local residents and business owners the opportunity to help influence the future of the centre through facilitated workshops and planning groups. An exhibition explaining the sites background will also be held with team members on hand to answer questions.

There are currently two planned workshop and exhibition dates, on 22 March from 1.45 - 5.30pm and 23 March from 11.00am – 4.00pm at Nicholsons shopping centre. Workshops will be held in the former Argos unit and the exhibition will be held in the former Secrets unit opposite.

Councillor Simon Dudley, leader of the council and lead member for Maidenhead and Maidenhead regeneration, says: “I am delighted that Tikehau Capital have acquired the shopping centre and want to hear from those who use it about its future use.

“We held an information event last weekend about the changing face of Maidenhead and there were many questions about the future of the shopping centre.

“I would encourage people to attend these sessions and give their views as another part of the town is redeveloped. It is an exciting time for Maidenhead.”

A session to report back following the workshops will take place at St Mary’s Church in Maidenhead on 26 March from 6:45 - 8:30pm.

A planning application is anticipated to be submitted in early 2020.
