Prince William could be forced to choose between a family wedding and his role as the president of the Football Association for the second time in two years, according to national reports.

It comes after Lady Gabriella Windsor, the daughter of the Queen’s first cousin Prince Michael of Kent, is believed to have chosen May 18 as the date of her wedding to businessman Tom Kingston, with the wedding said be taking place at St George’s Chapel, in Windsor Castle.

The chapel played host to the wedding of the Duke of Cambridge’s brother Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, now the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, on May 19 last year – the same day as the FA Cup Final between Chelsea and Manchester United.

May 18 this year is also set to be the same day as the FA Cup final, potentially throwing the Duke of Cambridge into a quandary again – to choose between the royal wedding or presenting the FA Cup trophy to the winning team, according to the Daily Mail.

Last year, he decided to skip the game, instead choosing to remain by his brother’s side as his best man for his big day.

At the time, Kensington Palace said in a statement: “The Duke of Cambridge will not be attending the FA Cup final due to his responsibilities as best man at his brother’s wedding.”
