The mother of a missing student, believed to be from High Wycombe, has put out an emotional plea on social media for her daughter to come home.

Missing University of Hull student Libby Squire has not been seen since vanishing late on Thursday night, and police dogs have been deployed around the area where she was last spotted, as well as the Coastguard.

Her mother Lisa Squire, from High Wycombe, took to Facebook to urge her daughter to come home, saying that she is "broken" without her.

Thanking the students who searched the university campus on Saturday, the nursery nurse said in the post: "She is obviously loved by so many."

The family had previously said that the student's disappearance is "very out of character", and that she is a "very thoughtful and caring young woman who puts others before herself".

Detective Superintendent Simon Gawthorpe, of Humberside Police, said on Sunday: "There are a number of leads we are following up and I want to offer my thanks to everyone who has come forward with information, your help has been invaluable."

On Saturday, around 200 students were out looking for Miss Squire, who was reported missing after getting into a taxi outside the Welly Club on Beverley Road, Hull, at around 11pm on Thursday.

It is believed that she got out of the vehicle a short while later near her home address on Wellesley Avenue.

She was then helped by a motorist, and was last spotted on CCTV on Beverley Road, near to the junction with Haworth Street, at around 11.45pm on Thursday.

Humberside Police said that the motorist in question had contacted them and "really helped" with the search.

Det Supt Gawthorpe added: "We're trying to trace Libby's steps and piece together her movements that night.

"We're keen to speak to anyone who may have been on Haworth Street, which is almost adjacent to Beresford Avenue, between 11.30pm and 12.30am as part of this line of enquiry, to understand Libby's movements that night.

"Officers will be conducting further house to house enquiries in the Beresford Avenue area, Haworth Street and around Beverley Road today and special constables will be out on patrol in the areas."

He added: "We have specialist teams again out today carrying out searches and we are working with Humberside Fire and Rescue and the Coastguard, who will be around the River Hull.

"I completely understand people will want to help with the searches, but I would please ask that you instead continue to help us by coming forward with any information, no matter how small or insignificant you think it may be, as it could link together with information we already have and help us to find Libby."

Police have urged anyone living around the area that Miss Squire was last spotted in to check their gardens and outbuildings in case she has taken shelter from the cold weather.

Anyone who was driving around the area between 11pm Thursday night and 3am Friday morning and has dash cam footage was also asked to come forward by contacting 101.

Ryan Tweddell, a friend of Miss Squire who organised the student search on Saturday, told the Press Association: "Libby is a loving down to earth, typical, normal student.

"She is hardworking, helps everyone who needs it and is a lovely, brilliant girl."
