More than 220 residents from a south Bucks village and the surrounding area are expected to have their say on plans to build a new service station on green belt land.

Two public consultations were held in Chalfont St Peter and Maple Cross on January 25 and 26 to talk residents through the plans, which could see a service station built between junctions 16, for the M40, and 17, for Maple Cross, on the M25.

A proposal has been put forward by Extra Motorway Services Group, which is expected to invest £90 million into the project.

The firm says the service station will create up to 340 full-time jobs and £1.5 million in business rates each year.

The plans include improved footpath links between Chalfont St Peter and the Colne Valley Regional Park.

Speaking after the second consultation, Andrew Long, CEO of Extra MSA Group, said: “After months of preparation and engagement with important local stakeholders, it was good to welcome members of the community to our two public consultations.

“We hope that those who attended found the information on display useful and we encourage as many people as possible to tell us their views about our plans for a new motorway service area.

“As well as satisfying the clear public safety need for a new MSA that currently exists on the north west quadrant of the M25, we believe that our proposal offers the local community a number of opportunities to enhance the surrounding area.

“We look forward to continuing to work with residents and any interested parties to further improve the plans.”
