A Slough man charged with bribery has appeared alongside a former Pakistan cricketer in court.

35-year-old Yousef Anwar, of Littlebrook Avenue, Slough appeared at Manchester Magistrates’ Court alongside the former Pakistan international 32-year-old Nasir Jamshed and Mohammed Ijaz, 33.

Mr Anwar faces two charges. He isaccused of conspiring to offer financial advantages to players in the Pakistan Super League with the intention of inducing them to perform improperly by failing to play competitively in good faith.

He is also accused of conspiring together to bribe players taking part in the Bangladesh Premier League to perform improperly between November 1 2016 and December 6 2016.

Mr Jamshed was an opening batsman for Pakistan who played in 48 one-day internationals and two test matches. He was issued with a ten-year ban for spot-fixing in August last year.

A pre-trial hearing will take place at Manchester Crown Court on February 12. All three men have been granted unconditional bail.
