TIMES are changing - but the Perseverance pub in Wraysbury is keeping up with them.
The pub held its annual pie and porter festival at the weekend with steak and ale proving the most popular variety of pie among the 1,000 tasty offerings provided by landlord Nick Higney.
But for the first time this year Mr Higney also included pies for vegans among the selection - about 15 per cent of what was on offer was free of animal product.
Mr Higney said: "The hardest thing is the pastry but otherwise it is possible to provide very tasty pies without any animal product - the spicy bean and mushroom pies went down very well."
The festival ran on Friday and Saturday - the fourth or fifth of its kind to be held at the pub, Mr Higney cannot remember which.
But he said: "It was clear the first time we ran it that it was going to be a success with people in Wraysbury."
