A long servicing Langley churchwarden is to be honoured for services to the Church in a special service later this month.
Dr Anna Thomas-Betts is one of the two people to be admitted to the Order of St Frideswide. Named after the patron saint of Oxford, the recognition was founded in 2001 and is awarded as a way of celebrating outstanding service to the Church.
Anna Thomas-Betts is the churchwarden of the Langley Marish parish in the Burnham and Slough Deanery. Having represented Oxford in the General Synod between 1990-2015, her work included voting for women to be ordained both as priests and bishops.
She has also worked to bring more inclusivity and unity to the local community has reflected having been the chair of the diocesan interfaith group, a founder member of the race group and also being responsible for monitoring immigration groups both locally and nationally.
Dr Anna Thomas-Betts said: “Many of my colleagues have been honoured before, but I was still delighted and surprised when I discovered that received the award.”
