The Curve is to host a first of its kind performance next month when the production of Three Set Under the Banyan Tree visits the town as part of the UK tour.

The performance is one of India’s classic fables and is the first to be played on stage in the UK. Based around three refugees on the foothills of the Himalayas who open a magical book under a Banyan tree, the story offers lessons for young refugees seeking to re-make their lives.

Loaded with songs, masks and exciting movement, the story features a headstrong crow, a brave mongoose and a tortured tiger.

Starring in the Tara Arts production, which originally played at The Polka Theatre in September 2018, are Rose-Marie Christian in the role of Jayaben, Halema Hussain in the role of Yasmin and Raj Swamy in the role of Mahendra.

Artistic Director Jatinder Verma said: “Bringing stories such as Shamser Singha’s brilliant new take on India’s classic fables reminds us that diversity is for all, young and old; offering powerful ways for making connections with other cultures and worlds.”

Polka Artistic Director Peter Glanville added: “Polka Theatre are delighted to have collaborated with Tara Arts on this production, bringing to life some of the classic Panchatanra tales for a new generation of children.

“The show was very well received during its run at Polka and we are thrilled it will now be shared with a wider audience of children and families on tour.”

The Curve will be hosting two performances on Saturday 16th February at 12pm and 2pm. Adult tickets are £6 and under 16 tickets are £5. To buy tickets, visit www.thecurveslough.com or call the box office 01753875533.
