POLICE have issued a warning to motorists after issuing a fine to someone caught using their mobile phone on the M4.
The Roads Policing Unit followed the driver on the motorway on the afternoon of December 31 before handing out a £300 fine.
The driver was caught on camera using the device before having their driving licence endorsed with six penalty points.
What horrified the officers the most was a moment when the driver had no hands on the wheel.
The driver later claimed they were attempting to turn their phone off and refused to watch the footage captured by police.
Since March 2017, motorists caught using a handheld phone have faced receiving six points on their licence.
Drivers can lose their licence if they receive 12 points within three years, or six points in the first two years after passing their test.
