An end of the year Keep Fit Session hosted by the Slough Senior Citizen’s Group at Chalvey was attended by more than 45 people.
They were joined at Brook House in Chalvey by the Mayor of Slough Cllr Paul Sohal, cabinet member for Children and Education Shabnum Sadiq and councillor from Chalvey Attiq Sandhu.
The group has been in operation since 2006 and was formed with the aim of combatting isolation and loneliness in elderly people by hosting weekly exercise sessions, yoga and keep fit, workshops and seminars.
Members of the group and other visitors at the event donated over £260 worth of goods that will be given to those in need. Vijaya Gupta, organiser of the group, thanked all the guests for their donations of money, food and toiletries that will be donated to foodbanks in and around the town.
The group will start up again on Tuesday, January 8 with a keep fit class taken by Emily Lockhart at 11am - with a new year party on Thursday, January 10 at the same time.
