The leader of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Simon Dudley has come out in support of the government’s rejection of plans to build the Windsor Link Rail.
The controversial project, spearheaded by former councillor George Bathurst, was rejected by the government who claimed to not find the proposals ‘credible’, leading Mr Bathurst to say he felt ‘ a bit shell-shocked’.
The council had previously distanced itself from the project, with the head of the Windsor town forum Cllr Jack Rankin previously stating that the project did not have the council’s support.
Now Cllr Dudley has come out in support of the government’s decision and agreed with their assertion that the plans were not credible.
He said: “Though lead by a dedicated team, I’ve always struggled with the credibility of Wwindsor Link and the disruption to Windsor. Looks like the Department for Transport has conclude the same.”
